ETF Growth Story Continues

Listen to The ETF Store Show every Tuesday at 9am on ESPN 1510 as we cover everything you need to know about Exchange Traded Funds and the world of investing.

On our most recent radio broadcast, we discussed the incredible ETF growth story that continues to unfold right before our eyes.  Recent ETF data released by ETF Industry Association shows continued strong growth with assets increasing over $75 billion since the beginning of the year and the number of ETF products growing to 1,476 – a 15% increase compared to the same time last year.  New cash flowing into ETFs continues to come at the expense of traditional mutual funds as investors become better educated on the potential advantages of ETFs including lower costs, greater tax efficiency, intraday trading, and the ability to access a wide variety of alternative asset classes.  Total ETF assets now stand at $1.2 trillion and Cerulli Associates projects the astronomical growth to continue with ETF assets hitting $3.8 trillion by the end of 2016.

Listen to our full show here as we discuss the shifting demographics driving this staggering growth and why we think ETFs are more like the digital music in your iPod while mutual funds resemble something closer to cassette tapes – or even the old 8 tracks.  Which would you rather invest in?  Plus, we explain the difference between index mutual funds and ETFs and examine a high flying agricultural ETF (ticker RJA) in our weekly ETF Spotlight.

We Discuss MUB, CORN, IBB, and More…

Listen to The ETF Store Show every Tuesday at 9am on ESPN 1510 as we cover everything you need to know about Exchange Traded Funds and the world of investing.

On our most recent radio broadcast, we answered your questions on Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and investing including how the iShares S&P National Municipal Bond ETF (ticker: MUB) can help you sleep better at night than by holding individual municipal bonds and what to make of the nearly 40% rise in the Teucrium Corn Fund (ticker: CORN) since the beginning of June.  We also explained the most important factors when selecting an ETF and the key questions to consider when deciding whether to hire a financial advisor.  Plus, we discussed housing and unemployment in our weekly market update and delved into a very interesting ETF (IBB) in our ETF Spotlight segment.  Listen to the full show here.

The ETF Store’s Nate Geraci and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig Discuss the Economics of Baseball

With Kansas City’s landmark Union Station as the backdrop and Mayor Sly James in attendance, The ETF Store’s Nate Geraci discussed the economics of baseball with Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig during a luncheon hosted by the Missouri Council on Economic Education prior to the 2012 MLB All-Star Game.  Among the topics discussed during the hour-long question and answer session were revenue sharing, payroll disparities among large and small market teams, and the future competitive balance of Major League Baseball.

Following the conversation with Commissioner Selig, Geraci conducted a roundtable discussion with Sports Radio 810 WHB’s Nate Bukaty, Host of the Border Patrol.  Bukaty, who also does pre and post-game coverage for the Kansas City Royals on Fox Sports Net Kansas City, provided his insight into Selig’s comments, how to improve the competitive balance of the game, and the future of the Royals organization given the current economics of baseball.

The ETF Store, Inc. has had a long-standing partnership with the Missouri Council on Economic Education, providing ongoing financial support and participation in various educational initiatives sponsored by the not-for-profit organization.
