ETF Store Show Recap – 10/08/11
The ETF Store Show is moving to a new time! Listen to The ETF Store Show every Saturday at 4pm on KCMO Talk Radio 710AM as we cover everything you need to know about Exchange Traded Funds and the world of investing.
On our most recent radio show, we continued with the third of four case studies regarding how individuals at different stages of their lives should be approaching investing. This week, we focused on those individuals who are younger, working professionals with a growing family who may be finding it difficult to prioritize building a nest egg and may be unsure on how to best position their portfolios given their longer time horizon.
We emphasized the importance of saving enough – the critical first step down the right path to reaching your financial goals is saving. You obviously can’t invest in the markets if you don’t save first. We then discussed the need to optimize the dollars that you’re saving. This is best achieved through using the proper types of accounts for your unique situation to take advantage of tax savings so you can have your money work for you. Finally, using the right investment strategy and investments is crucial – younger investors need to make sure that they’re being aggressive enough and they need to take advantage of the benefits of asset allocation which you can do very effectively with ETFs. Investors can also lower their investment costs and taxes with ETFs – both of which can have a huge impact on returns, particularly for individuals with such a long-term time horizon.
