We Talk ETFs with David Mazza from State Street

Listen to The ETF Store Show every Tuesday at 9am on ESPN 1510 as we cover everything you need to know about Exchange Traded Funds and the world of investing.

On our most recent radio broadcast, we talked to David Mazza, Head of ETF Investment Strategy at State Street Global Advisors, who gave us his thoughts on the current ETF landscape and where he thinks the rapidly growing industry is heading.  Dave also provided some insight into which SPDR ETFs investors have flocked to this year and the rationale behind where these investors are placing their bets.  State Street is currently the second largest ETF provider and owner of the two largest ETFs on the market – the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (ticker:  SPY) and the SPDR Gold Shares (ticker:  GLD).  State Street also launched the very first ETF, ticker SPY, back in 1993 and has been one of the key innovators in the ETF space.

In our weekly market update, we discussed the recent European Central Bank plan to buy short-term bonds in troubled EU countries and the uninspiring US jobs report that had a big impact on gold.  We also explained why last week’s market action was “exhibit A” for having a diversified portfolio.  Finally, in our weekly ETF Spotlight segment, we delved into an interesting sector SPDR ETF (ticker XRT) that has seen strong returns over the past year.  Listen to the full show here.
